Honouring Every Child’s Journey: Orange Shirt Day

September 30th is recognized as Orange Shirt Day in Canada and Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy proudly stands in solidarity with our Indigenous brothers and sisters across this land as we reflect on how we can take meaningful steps towards truth and reconciliation. Today, we join together to honour the resilience, strength and culture of Indigenous peoples, and to remember and reflect upon the lives tragically affected y the residential school system.

Orange Shirt Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of acknowledging the past and working towards a future of understanding, compassion, and unity. By wearing orange shirts, we demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation and our shared responsibility to ensure that every child matters.

At Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and heard. Today, let us educate ourselves, engage in conversations, and reflect on the impact we can make collectively to create a more just and empathetic society.
