Remembrance Day Services ~ Mon Nov 11th

The commemoration of this year’s Remembrance Day on Monday November 11th was done with a special Prayer Service at Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy, led by SLAM’s Faith Development Team. This year, the service was also accompanied by several of our own FMM students who are part of junior Armed Forces.

We thank Army Reservists, Kushvir Saini & Aaron Rajinthrakumar (both in Grade 12) and Cadet Zabrina Andino, for their proud representation of the Armed Forces during this commemoration. We also thank our Music Department for providing the trumpet solo of The Last Post which was played during the service prior to the Moment of Silence.

We began our time of remembrance on Friday November 8th with the visit of Regimental Sergeant Major Vishnudat Persaud. Sgt Major Persaud has been a member of the Canadian Armed Forces since 1988 and shared his experiences of serving in the Forces as well as his role in the peacekeeping mission to Bosnia with our students.

We thank all those who made this year’s celebrations so thoughtful. We keep in our hearts all those who came before us and who gave their lives so that we may have freedom.
